This is your classic “Hole-in-the-Wall” restaurant. They serve many other things than burgers but I heard many good things bout their burgers so this was what I was here for.
The restaurant was a small place with maybe 15 tables. It looked very much like a Hispanic husband and wife operation where the husband was taking orders and the wife was cooking and serving. I asked what was the most popular burger and I was told it was the Southwest Burger with jack cheese, avocado, pico de gallo, and chipotle mayo. Sounded good to me. I ordered it with a side of fries. I asked if they cooked the burgers from fresh and he confirmed they were cooked from fresh.
The wait was short, probably because we were the first ones there, maybe 7 minutes. They wife served the burgers and they looked mighty good. The greens looked very fresh and the burgers was cooked on a grill with nice sear marks.
At the first bite if was obvious this burger was cooked from fresh meat and the grilling of the burger was definitely a plus. The chipotle mayo was a disappointment. It tasted of nothing and could have been regular mayo for all I cared. There was no kick or any smokiness like I would have expected. The avocado was super fresh and so was the pico that looked homemade. The patty was seasoned well, maybe a little on the salty side, but definitely well seasoned. The meat was cooked to well-done and personally I think this burger would have been much better if it had been medium.
The fries were frozen fries from a bag. They were not very crispy and at best average fries.
I recommend 15th Street Cafe for their fresh ingredients and their tasty burgers. I will try to order it medium next time I go here though.
