Al’s Hamburgers was a busy place. It’s a diner with all kinds of offerings but calling it Al’s Hamburgers invited me to try just that.
I looked over their menu and noticed several variation of the famous Al’s hamburger. I asked and the patties are 1/5 lbs so I ordered a triple cheeseburger with their signature jalapeno bacon. We also ordered a regular size of each of home cut fries, tater tots and onion rings.
The burgers are cooked Texas style with lettuce, tomatoes, onion rings and mustard. I was not going to try and change that even though some may substitute the mustard with mayo.
The burgers came after 12-15 minutes wait. It was quite busy but the wait was a little too long. The burger was wonderful. It had a dense beefy flavor and the cheese was very dominating (in a good way). I usually don’t like mustard as the only condiment on a burger, but this one was very good. If you like solid, beefy and cheesy burgers this is where you want to go.
The fries was a different story. The hand cut fries were semi raw in the middle and soggy on the outside. I bet they only fry the fries once, which is a big mistake. The tater tots were regular store bought tots and they tasted of bad oil. The onion rings were pretty good and probably also store bought.
All in all, this is a great place for hamburgers. The fries are so and so, but the overall experience was good.
