Burger Break is a new restaurant in Plano, Texas and they are making fresh cooked burgers according to their logo. They claim to cook burgers from fresh never frozen beef. They have 14 burgers on their menu including one veggie burger.

The restaurant was very plain with no decorations. All they had was a place to order and tables to sit at. Maybe they plan to decorate later?
We ordered the Texas Break Burger, that included sauteed onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, bell peppers, american and provolone cheese, mayo, mustard, ketchup, hickory sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and bacon.

The guy taking the order was probably the slowest order taker I have ever met. It took him a couple of minutes to write down “2 Texas Burgers with fries and drinks”. I was not sure what the problem was, but it was mind-blowing to watch him write the order up that slowly. It was a good thing they were not very busy. He finally gave us a number to get the burgers when they were done.

It took 10-15 minutes for the burgers and fries to get ready. Considering there was no other orders that entire time it was not very impressive. I was slowly getting irritated.

All my irritation evaporated like dew in the morning sun when I saw the burger. It was truly a good looking burger, it was a beauty! The fries also looked mighty impressive. All in all a very good looking plate!
The burger had a wonderful taste. The jalapenos were not too spicy and the ratio between mayo, mustard and ketchup was just right. They all made it to my taste buds and none of them were overpowering. The burger was well done but still juicy and all the condiments made this burger just right. It was worth the wait. I would not change a single thing on this burger.

The fries were a different story. At best they were just average. They looked good but they failed to deliver. Not very crispy, some soggy and some too hard. It was a petty. They should spend some more time making better fries.

Burger Break makes great burgers. They say they make the best in town. I am not sure about that but they are definitely in the top tier of burger places in Plano and even the greater Dallas area. They should work on the decorations of the restaurant to make it a bit cozier and use frozen fries until they can get the home made fries right.

If they cooked the burgers to order, so I could have had this burger cooked to medium I would likely give them an even higher rating.

I recommend Burger Break for their burgers, but not their fries. I would get the burger to go next time until they make the restaurant nicer to dine in.

Update 10/07/2010:

I visited the restaurant again to see if anything changed since the last time. The gay taking the orders were the same and he was still super slow to take the order. His personality was like an ATM machine. Super boring and predictable. This time they were unable to take credit card (the machine was broken) and he didn’t provide any advice where to find a place to get cash. Also he lost my order and only because I asked about my order several times they were able to make my burger using my own receipt. I had the Texas Break Burger one more time and it was still very great. This time it had a little too much mustard on it but other than that the burger was great. The fries were horrible like the last time, but they provided us a larger portion of chili cheese fries because of their mess ups and they were actually pretty good. The onion rings were to oily for my taste.
