Being a true burger lover, I have always made burgers with fresh and never frozen meat, so I was a little apprehensive doing a test on frozen patties. I decided to take a chance on frozen burgers and do a comprehensive test to let you know what I think about them.
I decided to select three different frozen patties:
1. Private Selection Angus Beef Patties with cheese and bacon ($6.99 for six 1/3 lbs patties)

2. Bubba Burger ($9.99 for six 1/3 lbs patties)

3. Kroger Brand Ground Beef Patties ($6.99 for twelve ¼ lbs patties)

First thing I noticed was that all burgers had to be cooked from frozen and the instructions to cook them were all the same. Cook on dry pan until juices is showing on top, then turn and finish cooking until done.
I decided to put less stuff on the burgers, so I could taste the meat better. I still had to add cheese though. My first impressions after cooking the burgers was that they didn’t look very appetizing. They were grey and brown and quite honestly I feared the upcoming tasting.

But I was actually presently surprised, almost shocked!
The Angus Beef Patty burger was absolutely delightful. The meat had a superior taste and the cheese and bacon flavor pulled through and made this burger taste very good. It even had some redness to the meat like a freshly cooked patty.
The Kroger patty was a little thinner than the other two and the taste was definitely not as good as the Angus patty. It was a little more cardboard consistency to it, but this burger is priced around half of the others, so considering the price it is a pretty good choice. The added cheese was definitely making this burger better.
The Bubba patty was the most expensive, almost $2 per patty. The taste was better than the Kroger patty but not as good as the Angus. Its consistency was probably the best of all the burgers, but it was just not the best tasting burger.
This was a very surprising test to me. I definitely will keep some frozen patties around in the freezer for one of the days where you just need to make a quick semi homemade burger.
Ratings (1-10):
