Creamy Ranch Dressing

If you live in the United States you know how delicious ranch dressing is. If you don’t, you absolutely have to make this dressing. Ranch is one of the best tasting dressings out there!

Ranch is very universal as it goes as dressing on salads but also as a condiment on burgers and fries, dip for chips and mixed with BBQ sauce for an awesome BBQ ranch dressing. The possibilities a almost endless and the taste of ranch is quite addictive.

There are many ranch variations in the States and I know that some have their favorite and can’t imagine any other better ranch than theirs.

I think you should give this recipe a try. Here is what I tried to accomplish:

  • I wanted to make it completely from scratch if at all possible (I didn’t make the sour creme)
  • I wanted to use only fresh ingredients
  • I wanted the dressing to be very creamy and thick
  • I wanted the dressing to be awesome!

This recipe involves making mayonnaise from scratch but if you don’t have time for that, use your favorite store bought mayo instead. When you use homemade mayo the ranch dressing get a little more yellow from the Dijon mustard. If you don’t like that, just omit the mustard or use a little less.

I am using fresh herbs in this recipe. If you don’t have them fresh and want to use dried herbs use only 1/2 tsp of each instead. If you don’t like the fresh garlic taste you have to use 1 tsp of granulated garlic as a substitute.

Ingredients

1 cup homemade mayonnaise (or store bought if you don’t have time)
1/4 cup sour creme
2 tbsp fresh cilantro (or parsley), finely chopped
1 tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped
1-2 cloves of garlic (I suggest you first use one and taste. If you like more garlic taste add the other one)

Instructions

  • Mix mayo and sour creme in a bowl, use a whisk
  • Add herbs and garlic and whisk until completely smooth. Feel free to add more or less of each ingredient or add additional herbs as you like

Use it on salads, on hamburgers, with fries, as dip for chips, on sandwiches, in BBQ sauce or eat it right out of the bowl. It’s that good!

Enjoy.
