In-N-Out burger opened their first two restaurants in Allen and Frisco, Texas on Wednesday May 11, 2011. I pass the Allen restaurant each day coming to work and I knew this was going to be big already the day before when people were camping out to be the first to get their hand on the magical In-N-Out burger.
On the opening day the line was maybe 100 around 7:30 am and they opened the restaurant early so people could get in sooner. During the day at least 10 police officers were in the area directing traffic and the line for the drive-thru was more than half a mile long. I was told that the average waiting time was a little more than one hour!
I should be the first to understand the craving for a good burger, but In-N-Out burger is a fast food burger place! Right next to them is Mooya Burger that makes so much better burgers and fries than In-N-Out, so what the fuss all about?
You really want to wait more than an hour to get something that is average at best? I sure wasn’t going to wait in line for more than an hour to get the Double-Double or any of their other burgers.
How do people have time to camp out for an average burger for more than 24 hours and why would anyone wait more than an hour for a regular hamburger? It’s beyond me.
I will wait until the lines are gone. Some say that could take months. If that’s the case, so be it. I will review when I can experience the FAST food experience and not a minute before. Sorry guys, but I have to work for a living and have better things to do than wait in line for a fast food burger.
EDIT: The lines have been up to 3 hours long. We had heavy thunderstorms and people were still waiting in line, but the wait went down to 1.5 hours while they lasted. This is crazy!!!
