THIS RESTAURANT IS NOW CLOSED

This is a brand new restaurant on the east side of Allen, Texas. The concept is 60′s style Texas burgers, and there is really nothing wrong with that. Their menu features seven burgers and five chicken sandwiches. All burgers are made from fresh, never frozen beef as so many other better burger places.

Everything inside is brand new and in a much better quality than you see at some new burger places, where you basically just can sit down and eat your burger. They have a Zoltar fortune teller machine that keeps asking “What are you waiting for?”. You would think it already knew? I would have saved my money and not get that to stand around.

I ordered the Bacon Cheese Burger with a side of fries (6 oz) and a drink. I asked if they cooked the burger to order and they had no idea what I meant. I tried to explain but gave up. I guess I just had to get what I got. The cups are “green” made from corn. Nice touch.

We were the only ones in the restaurant but we still got a buzzer and they explained how it would buzz once the order was ready. Funny, I am sure I would have never figured it out if it wasn’t for the detailed instructions.

The buzzer went off after 5 minutes. It was funny to see how they prepared the order and went through all the trouble of dialing our buzzer when we were still the only ones in the place. They could have walked it out to us and saved all of us some time. I guess it’s alright. They had to get used to this if they got busy.

The burgers looked very good. You could tell the lettuce, tomatoes and onion were super fresh and I could tell that they cooked this burger using the smash method, where they smash a ball of meat during the cooking to make it burger shaped. I am not a big fan of this, but it’s of course their choice to do it. My guess was that this was a 1/3 lbs burger (or slightly bigger). One thing I was noticing was the lack of ketchup. I had to ask for it and they even looked confused when I asked. Get some bottles out there!

The burger was indeed fresh and tasted very good. The bacon was a good quality apple smoked bacon and it was cooked to perfection. The cheese was an American cheddar but had little taste. There was no seasoning worth mentioning on the burger. Overall a very successful burger.

The fries were very good. I asked the staff if they cut their own fries or made them from frozen. They didn’t know so they asked the owner to explain. You would think that you would know if you prepare fries from fresh or get them out of the bag. Anyone should know that. Anyway, they were prepared from frozen, which explained why they were so good. They were done exactly right and couldn’t be any better considering they were made from frozen. I think it is great to make fries from frozen if you can’t figure out how to make the fresh. They can get so bad if you don’t do it right.

All in all, this is a pretty good place to get burgers. I will recommend Jay’s Fine Burgers to anyone that like traditional made Texas burgers. And maybe when you go there the staff is a little more used to their jobs. This was after all their first week being there.

I am rating the burger a 7.5 out of 10. Fries is 8 out of 10.
