Mignon is an upscale steakhouse in Plano, Texas. All steakhouses usually have a burger on their menu and Mignon was no exception. They had two burgers: A Prime Bacon Cheese burger and a Prime Mushroom Cheese Burger. The word “Prime” refers to the fact that these burgers are made with Prime beef, the finest quality you can get in the United States.

I selected the Prime Bacon Cheese burger and it was served with a side of pommes frites. You know you are at a fancy place when french fries are served as “pommes frites”. It’s just the French word for the same thing, but it usually also indicates that the fries are homemade and fried twice or even three times. I asked for my burger medium rare because good steakhouses can really cook a burger at that temperature.

The burgers arrived in 10 minutes and smelled wonderful. The fries were homemade as expected and they were quite excellent.

The burgers had the quality steakhouse taste. What I mean by that is, that the meat has a grilled and super meaty taste. When you cook burgers at home, you will likely never get them to taste this good. The meat was cooked absolutely perfectly medium rare. The cheese was gooey and melted just right. One big disappointment was the bacon or rather bacon bits. They were small hard bullets of non tasting bacon. I would ask for the burger without the bacon bits if I had to order it again. They were just not good at all.

Mignon is upscale and so are the prices. A burger runs $12-13 and you have to add drinks, tax and tips on top of that. The burger was very good, but the bacon dragged it down. I can’t believe the chef would serve that on the burger. Make sure to not order the bacon if you come to visit Mignon. And you may want to dress up because this place is pretty upscale. I was in jeans and polo shirt and I felt WAY under dressed.
