Quaker Steak & Lube (QSL) is a lot of fun. The concept is essentially having a meal in a garage with cars on lifts ready to get a tube and lube. So the restaurant had a lot of cars and motorcycles lifted up in the air and people were seated underneath them. There were tons of flat screen TVs everywhere and even one built into the floor at the entrance.
QSL is a wing place, but carries a lot of other items on their menu including burgers. I ordered the Lube Special, a ½ lbs burger with mushrooms, cheese, and bacon. What’s not there to like? It comes with a side and I was able to choose from several choices. I selected the regular fries for my burger. They asked how I wanted the burger cooked and I asked for it medium rare as usual.
The wait was less than ten minutes. The burger was cooked medium rare as requested and if you read my reviews often, you will notice this is not very often that the restaurants are able to cook them correctly, but this one was spot on. The meat was very juicy and had a wonderful taste. The bacon was good and the mushrooms were also decent. The burger came with a blue dressing sauce that I really didn’t care too much about. It was pretty bland and didn’t add anything to the burger. The bun was good and sturdy.
The fries were good fries, but nothing special.
I was pretty impressed with the burger. I was not expecting such a good burger from a place like this. This was a burger as good as the best burger places in town! It’s a good 8.5 out of 10 and that puts I toward the top of the approved burger places. I will definitely be back again, and that time I will try their wings.
