Review of Sonic Loaded Burgers

Sonic has recently added two Loaded burgers to their menu. They are the Western Chili Loaded Burger and the Spicy Southwest Loaded Burger.

I was going to try both burgers along side with a traditional Sonic burger and their Bacon Cheeseburger Toaster Sandwich.

For those who don’t know it, Sonic is a Drive-in and Drive-Thru place only. They have no restaurant where you can go and sit down to enjoy your meal. You have to eat your meal in your car or take it somewhere else.

I started with the traditional Sonic burger. They come in a few versions with mayo, ketchup or mustard. Mine was with mayo. The Sonic burger was very much like a traditional burger and very similar to a Whopper from Burger King or a Big-n-tasty from McDonald’s. Nothing terribly exciting but a good decent burger.

The next burger I tried was the Spicy Southwest Loaded Burger. It had fried onion rings, cheese and pickled jalapenos. I really liked this new burger. It was pretty spicy and some may find it too spicy. I was actually surprised how spicy it was considering this was a Sonic restaurant. I didn’t expect a kick from the burger like this. It was moist and had a lot of taste. If you like spicy – this is your burger.

Next up, the Western Chili Loaded Burger. It had cheese and chili meat on it. It was a bit sweet for my taste and I am not a big chili meat fan either. It was not as good as the Southwest burger. If you love chili meat, you may love this one.

I finished the meal off with the Bacon Cheeseburger Toaster sandwich that may not even qualify as a burger, but I wanted to try it. This was my favorite by far. It was great with fried onion, bacon and cheese. It was better than the Southwest burger but also very different since there were no jalapenos in this one.

Overall I think Sonic has a good concept for a burger franchise. They have quite a few burger choices and are also know for a large variety of drink, slushes, ice-cream and other non-burger related fast food.

I would definitely recommend you to try the two new loaded burgers and give me some feedback on this article.

I am a fan of Sonic for fast food burgers. Much better than the other big boys–McDonald’s, BK, etc. The best thing Sonic has going for it is Tater Tots! None of the other big fast food chains offer these wondrous beauties. The Tots are one thing that brings me back to Sonic.

Not sure about these new loaded burgers. I’ll stick with the regular, with mustard and mayo please, no cheese.

I live in a small town and Sonic is “the place to go” I eat there regularly at lunch as its very convenient to just sit in my car during lunch and have my food delivered to my car by a waitress on roller skates no less!
I tried one of the Western Chili Burgers but did not care for it -Possibly I might like it better if the weather was cold but its hot and I’m not a fan of chili when the weather is hot! I looked at the nutritional information about it and it has something like 966 calories – I personally prefer just a plain Sonic hamburger – Sonic always seems to make it good – I’ve gone to Mcdonalds before and when i get a burger it just seems as if its been slopped together – not very appetizing. When I get a sonic burger, its always hot, and well put together. They will make it anyway that you choose. I have in the past tried the Bacon cheeseburger toaster sandwich as you did but I’m not a fan of that – Its just my personal preference to have my burger on a bun. .I would probably not ever buy the Southwest Burger as I don’t like spicy foods, onion rings or pickeled jalapenos. I must add that the Sonic in my town always offers excellent customer service- quick delivery and delicious food- I have on occasion visited a Sonic in the Plano, TX area and the service there was terrible.
