Review: We Got Burgers

Wegotburgers.com are making all kinds of different burgers that you can buy from frozen. They mix meats, greens and spices to make exciting burger variants that you then can get and save time at the barbecue and also provide some interesting burgers to your guests.

I was sent 2 lbs each of the following:

  • Ground Beef & Pork Patties Teriyaki Pineapple
  • Brat Seasoned Beef & Pork Patties
  • Ground Beef & Pork Patties Kielbasa
  • Jalapeno Cheddar Beef & Pork Patties

So I got 4 burgers in each package for a total of 16 burgers to be tested. I was looking forward to it!

The packaging was very good and all burgers were still frozen solid upon arrival.

The way I tested this was that I tried to make the burgers as simple as possible so the meat would stand out the most. I decided not to add to much spices or add to many things to the burgers.

I thawed most of the burgers prior to cooking except the Jalapeno burgers. I know the instructions said to cook them from frozen, but I really prefer them thawed first. The Jalapeno burgers were cooked from frozen just to see if there was a major difference cooking from frozen and there wasn’t.

Also, when I cook any burger that has been frozen, I always cook it almost well done. So that was also the case here.

Here is my evaluation of each burger.

Ground Beef & Pork Patties Teriyaki Pineapple
In general I am not a big fan of adding any fruits to burgers and Teriyaki is not my thing, so I was not expecting this burger to be any good. But I was pleasantly surprised. The pineapple added some sweetness to the meat that I didn’t know it was missing. I only added cheese and a few greens to the burger and it was delicious. I really enjoyed it.

Brat Seasoned Beef & Pork Patties
I decided to make this burger a bit different. I made a burger hotdog instead. I reshaped the meat to sausages and served the burger as a hotdog. I had very high hopes for this burger but I was not very impressed. The meat was just not to my liking. It had a weird and unpleasant aftertaste. I tried to taste the meat all by itself but I came to the same conclusion. Not for me.

Ground Beef & Pork Patties Kielbasa
I was worried that this burger would disappoint like the last burger, but this was my favorite burger hands down. I made this with cheese, pico de gallo and guacamole as a South Western Burger. It was an absolute stunner. The meat was super tasty and well seasoned. It was so good that I actually included it as a separate blog recipe (see here). I still have two left and they will be saved for a special day.

Jalapeno Cheddar Beef & Pork Patties
I was really looking forward to this one. Jalapeno and cheese. Sounded like a success to me. This one was cooked from frozen. I cooked it slowly over low heat until juices showed at the top, then turned it and cooked over medium high until done. The burger didn’t have any kick whatsoever. If it didn’t say jalapeno on the outside I would have never guess it had any in them. The meat was well seasoned and tasty but there was nothing special about this burger. It was a good average burger.

In general I am not a big fan of any frozen burgers. I like to make my own burgers from fresh. I am also not a big fan of mixing anything into the meat. That being said I recognize that some are able to make burgers taste even better by mixing things into them. Wegotburgers have some very successful burgers and some that are so and so. It is a matter of personal preference if you like the burgers in one or another combination. I happened to like two and love one of them.

The price for each 1/2 lbs burger is around $3-$4 which is very competitive. Considering the price I think you get some very tasty burgers that will save you time at your next barbecue and at the same time will impress your guests.

I recommend www.wegotburgers.com for their burgers. Try to get a mix of different burgers and find your favorite.
